Work Visa in 2 days

Saturday 11 July 2009

Remember how stunned I was, when I got my working holiday visa in just 4 days?
Well, this time, NZ immigration even topped that!

After months of carefull preparation, I filed my application for my work permit last week. They told me they had a turn around time of about 6 weeks right now. As that was way to close to our planned Germany trip, I didn’t hand in my passport with my application, explaining to Immigration that I would need it and was happy to hand it in, after a decision was being made about my permit (or after my trip to Germany).
On Thursday I got an automated email, telling me that my application was received and stating an average time of 45 days to process the application.
Friday, Immigration rang and called me in, because they wanted to see me. I should bring my passport….? After about 15 minutes, the officer came back, handing me my passport – including a work permit and visa valid until 9. July 2011!
That was quick! :)

    Hi whoever you are. :)
I was applying under the “partner of resident” category.
That’s the only way (except of residency) as far as I know.
    Cheers.
