We made the 5 hours from Batemans Bay to Marlo (where we were very nicely welcomed by our next Courchsurfing hosts) in one single bit. We stayed in Marlo for 3 nights and Andrew and Debra were really good company. She’s a teacher and he’s got his own photo studio at home. He gave us a brief introduction to studio flash photography and also took us out to the beaches and his favorite spots to take pictures. There has been a large bush fire in the area just the week before we arrived, so we got a change to see some burned – and still smoking – trees (and wildlife) as well. It was a very impressive and frightening experience.
After saying goodbye in and to Marlo, we headed back to Melbourne where we ended the first part of our Australia trip with Philipp and Martina (with whom we stayed when we first came to Melbourne in January). We also met Phillip and Liz for dinner and caught up with a sailing mate and a former work colleague of Barbaras.
We flew back into Wellington on Saturday and while I have been working since then, Barbara got her indefinite residency sorted out with immigration and enjoyed catching up with friends for coffee.
I requested “Everything Chili” for last nights Tuesday Night Dinner at Mikes and it was lovely. Good food and nice to see everyone again! I brought along a bottle of desert-wine that’s made purely out of chili. Not a single grape in there. Check out “Disaster Bay Chillies“.
Lovely stuff! :-)
Glad to hear that you managed to find the chilli wine again after we drank the other bottle.
Keep having safe travels.
Hi Andrew, good to see you’re following my blog! :) Yes, we’ve bought the wine again and it’s still yummy! This time Babs even had a little tiny sip – but didn’t like it too much. ;)
if you are looking for a Mum`s present: you know what ! ??? ;-). But perhaps it is better to order!
